A typical Medical Laboratory test starts with specimen such as blood, tissue, urine, body fluids, or feaces. The specimen can be collected by a nurse, a physician, a phlebotomist or other health care professional.

When the specimen is received in the laboratory, it is numbered, processed and routed to one or more departments. Each department is a subspecialty area.

The laboratory operates on a 24hr basis and is manned by a qualified and  registered Laboratory technician.
